Job DescriptionBlue Sky Industries is a certified distributor of Aerospace Fasteners and related hardware. They specialize in aerospace fasteners and aircraft spares to distribute products and services to military, commercial, and strategic aerospace markets. Blue Sky Industries is servicing customers and suppliers worldwide.The Manager, Purchasing position is responsible for the costing, negotiation, profit, purchasing, sourcing, sales team and production support, technical assistance, bill of material and inventory management of product/material procured in support of the company's business. The focus of this position is to maximize the company gross margins, help the sales organization win more business through better sourcing/costing and assist with inventory management to maximize return on investment and meet customer and company requirements.Responsibilities

  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks
  • Monitor forecast upcoming levels of demand using max/min and lead time
  • Partner with sales team and suppliers to negotiate LTA's and other strategies to drive down cost and build strategic partnerships
  • Responsible for open orderbook, on time delivery, and push-pull reports to ensure our stock profile is maximized
  • Tracking and reporting key performance metrics to reduce expense and drive efficiencies
  • Work to improve, develop and execute purchasing process, training, and strategies
  • Maintain supplier databases, supplier performance, and supplier relationships
  • Training new employees in the purchasing process and system
  • Process and record supplier quotes and responses
  • Smart/Advantageous buying to reduce cost and reduce inventory
  • Process, schedule and expedite purchase orders to support inventory needs/customer demand
  • Expedite material when necessary to meet customer deadlines/delivery requirements
  • Minimize slow moving inventory
  • Identify ways to reduce slow moving/dead inventory
  • Take full advantage of all available stock rotations and returns with suppliers
  • Technical drawing and purchase order review to assure compliance to customer requirements
  • AS9100/ISO 9001 Quality System familiarity in relation to purchasing, product realization, supplier approval/setup and customer requirements flow-down a benefitQualifications
    • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain management roles
    • Candidate must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree
    • MS/NAS Hardware knowledge or Aerospace Fastener knowledge.
    • Strong project management leadership, knowledge and skills covering planning and execution
    • Candidate must be a strong and intelligent negotiator
    • A self-motivated and quick learner with ability to multitask in high pressure environment
    • Sharp attention to detail, attentiveness and accuracy are of utmost importance
    • The position will utilize our ERP system as their main tool.
