Job Description:

The purpose of this job description is to define the responsibilities of the LIS Assistant. The systems assistant assists in the operation of the hospital laboratory by overseeing the operation of the Laboratory Information System (LIS), monitoring, through the LIS, the performance of the Hospital Information System, and assisting in the operation, statistical input, and monitoring of the Ordering Entry System and laboratory as well as other task assigned by the Laboratory Director, Operational Manager, or LIS Manager.

  1. High school diploma or its equivalent experience (An AA or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  2. BCLS Card (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain.
  3. 5 years of experience working with a clinical laboratory including administrative responsibilities preferred.
  4. Demonstrate excellent computer skills.
  5. Be able to communicate well in English with physicians, nurses, patients, and LIS representative contacts.
  6. Work well under time of stress.
  7. Have excellent organizational and communication skills.
  8. Familiar with laboratory functions.
  9. Be familiar with common desktop applications, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Power point
