Job Description:
The Position
The City of Monterey Park is seeking a qualified candidate to fill
the position of Animal Services Officer. The Animal Services
Officer performs routine and complex public safety work in the
enforcement of animal control and licensing ordinances. Rescues
trapped and injured animals; impounds ,cares for, feeds and houses
animals at a animal holding facility; provides maintenance and
upkeep for the animal holding facility. Responds to complaints
concerning animal problems including but not limited to animals
running at large, bites, property damage or injuries, and takes
appropriate action to resolve the problems and uses appropriate
judgment in deciding a course of action to handle difficult and
emergency situations without assistance. Compiles a variety of data
regarding animal control; issues warnings or citations as required;
coordinates a public relations program in order to foster public
awareness of ordinances regarding animal control and humane
treatment of animals and makes presentations to community groups;
may be assigned to work nights, weekends, and/or holiday shifts or
subject to call back work as needed; performs related duties and
responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates whose qualifications and experience best meet the needs
of the City will be invited to an oral appraisal interview. The
oral appraisal interview will evaluate the background and personal
qualifications of each candidate. Meeting the minimum requirements
does not guarantee an invitation to further testing.
